Journal Writing Tic-Tac-Toe Board

Directions:  Choose any 3 writing activities to complete.  They must be in one row, one column, or one diagonal (tic-tac-toe).  All 3 writing choices must be proofread, printed, and handed in by Wednesday, January 26, 2011.  Only quality work will be accepted.  The writing tic-tac-toe activity will NOT be accepted after the due date.

 

 

Some people cannot smell.  Write a descriptive essay that will make them understand the word “skunk.”

 

 

 

 

What advice would a DOG give about life…if it could talk.  Write the advice in the form of a response from “Dear Abby.”

 

Describe someone who looks bored.  Don’t use any form of the words yawned, sighed, stared, or bored.

Here’s the last part of a newspaper story:  Neighbors called police when they noticed the pink gooey substance oozing from all the doors and windows of the modest ranch home.

 

Now write the first part of the story.  Remember that a newspaper story starts right out answering the questions, “Who, What, Where, When, and Why?”

 

 

What kind of cartoon show might appeal to the over-age 65 audience?  Imagine the show.  Then, in about 100 words, describe the show and its main character.

 

A friend has a blind date.  You know the date.  The person is not the most attractive person in the world but is very nice.  Describe the person to your friend in a way that makes the person sound appealing.  Be truthful, but don’t use the word “nice.”

 

There is smoke.  Where is it coming from?  You investigate and are surprised by what you find.  Describe what you discover.

 

 

 

 

 

Janet is a very spoiled teenage girl.  Show that she is spoiled, without saying she is spoiled, by describing what happens when she doesn’t get a car for her birthday.

Bippity-boppity-boo!

Create your own fairy godmother.  What does she look like?  What does she have to offer you?  Explain how she helps you.  Describe her personality.
